Arsenal’s Unai Emery Gets Pochettino Treatment

Embattled Arsenal coach Unai Emery has been sacked by the management of Arsenal as a result of underperformance.
The club on Friday released a statement confirming the sack of the boss which makes him the second Premier League manager to be relieved of his job in the last two weeks after ex-Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.
This followed a 2-1 home defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEROPA League on Thursday.
Josh Kroenke who spoke on behalf of the Arsenal board and Kroenke Sports and Entertainment board gave the reason for the dismissal as due to poor results and under performance.
” We announce today that the decision has been taken to part company with our head coach Unai Emery and his coaching team.
“Our most sincere thanks go to Unai and his colleagues who were unrelenting in their efforts to get the club back to competing at the level we all expect and demand. We wish Unai and his team nothing but future success.
“The decision has been taken due to results and performances not being at the level required.”
He said the new interim manager of the club will be Freddie Ljungberg and he expressed that the board believes in Ljungberg’s ability to take the club to a new level adding that the club is in search of new head coach.
“We have asked Freddie Ljungberg to take responsibility for the first team as interim head coach. We have full confidence in Freddie to take us forward.” Kroenke said.
The search for a new head coach is underway and we will make a further announcement when that process is complete.”
Freddie Ljungberg was part of Arsenal’s league-winning midfields in 2002 and 2004, and only became part of the first-team coaching setup in the summer, having returned to the club as under-23s coach in the summer of 2018.
