BREAKING: Dino Melaye’s Nephew Shot During Kogi Election Is Dead


Senator Dino Melaye has announced the death of his nephew, Olorunjuwon, who was reportedly shot by suspected thugs during the Kogi State governorship election on Saturday. 
Melaye said Olorunjuwon died on Sunday morning after battling for his life at an undisclosed hospital. 
The senator said his nephew was shot at his Idi Oro Ogale polling unit in Yagba East.
Melaye tweeted, “My nephew Olorunjuwon who was shot at my polling unit yesterday died this morning. My brother your death is a Supreme sacrifice in the struggle for the liberation of our people. Rest in peace aburo… So sad.”
Meanwhile, the Kogi West senatorial rerun between Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had held on Saturday, November 16.
The elections were said to have witnessed violence, ballot box snatching, intimidation of voters and vote buying.
The governorship election was contested by incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello of the APC, Musa Wada of the PDP and 22 other candidates of different political parties.
